Features & Benefits
Idle Smart is an automated start-stop system that reduces fuel and prevents downtime
Cabin Comfort
Idle Smart acts as a thermostat in your truck and will automatically start your engine when the cabin temperature is outside the comfort range and will run until the target cabin temperature is reached. Simply turn on the Cabin Comfort™ feature and turn your truck off. As the temperature in your truck gets outside of a comfortable range, Idle Smart will start your engine, run the heat/AC and bring the temperature of your truck back into a comfortable range. When that happens, Idle Smart will then shut off your truck.
Battery Protect
Battery Protect™ will automatically monitor your truck batteries and run the engine when voltages get low. Simply use Idle Smart’s Android tablet or remote management capabilities to program a voltage threshold and run time. Also, the key does not have to be in the ignition for Idle Smart to monitor your batteries. Even if you’re away from your truck, Idle Smart will still monitor and start your truck if your batteries get low to prevent jumpstarts or downtime for you.
Cold Start Guard
Cold Start Guard™ will automatically monitor your engine’s coolant temperature and when it gets too cold, Idle Smart will start and run your engine until the desired engine coolant temperature is reached. Even if you’re away from your truck and a cold front arrives, Idle Smart will still monitor and run your engine to prevent any fuel from gelling and any cold starts.
APU Battery Protect
APU Battery Protect™ will automatically monitor your APU batteries and will start and run the engine when the battery APU voltage gets too low. Idle Smart works with all brands such as Carrier APU, Green APU, Idle Free APU, Thermo King APU, and others.

What Our Clients Say
“I really liked the Idle Smart unit. It tells you everything you need to know easily and is so compact and small. It’s just super to use.”
Dave H. – Fleet Owner
“My tractor has been equipped with Idle Smart since the late spring and it has a lot of positives. First, it’s maybe 3 lbs and not 400-500 lbs. Second, you don’t need 3 feet of frame rail to mount it. Third, it took 4 hours to install, not “leave your truck here and it will be ready in 3 days.” Finally, it is transferable to my next tractor, which is great. No extra filters, no extra belts, just a small control panel in the sleeper. Coolness in the summer heat, warmth on those chilly nights in the Rockies … my Idle Smart system does it all at fraction of the cost.”
Chris S. – Owner Operator
“I’ve stopped using the auxiliary power unit when I’m on the road in my 2005 Peterbilt Model 385 traveling to shows and truck stops, which is about 300 days per year. Idle Smart saves fuel without the added weight of an APU or the maintenance it requires. My only problem is my own fault— I forget to turn off the radio and when the truck starts at 3 a.m.the radio wakes me up like an alarm clock.”
“Idle Smart is also an effective choice for drivers that haul heavy loads, adding only about one lb compared to a 500-lb APU, and it doesn’t require any space on the frame that heavy haulers need for extra axles and fuel tanks. In addition, in places like California, an APU has to be the same model year or newer than the truck. That means it can’t be transferred to a new vehicle, while Idle Smart can go from truck to truck and comply with the law.”
Jon Osburn – Technology Show Truck Driver for OOIDA (Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association)
“I was searching for an APU for my 2014 Kenworth T680 and came across Idle Smart. It appealed to me because unnecessary idling is a big issue, especially for an owner-operator who’s paying for fuel. I installed Idle Smart about three months ago, and from what I’ve seen so far, it will provide fuel savings, especially in summer and winter months, and will pay for itself compared to the much higher cost of an APU and the cost of maintaining it. When Idle Smart starts the engine it can wake you up, but it’s no different than having a refrigeration unit start, and not any worse than an APU beneath the sleeper.”

Installation
We designed our system to be plug-and-play with an installation time between one to three hours. Our average installation time is 90 minutes. We don’t cut wires and we don’t void any OEM warranties. To complete the installation, we have the technician run a software check to be sure that the installation is completed correctly so you don’t get stuck in the middle of nowhere with a system that doesn’t work.
